Personal organisation
"Time is life. It is irreversible and irreplaceable. To waste time is to waste your life, to master time is to master your life."Alan Lakein
"To master one's time is to gain mastery of oneself."Jean-Louis Servan-SchreiberWe are passionate about this whole area and support the above quotations. People's recognition of time as their major resource is often poor! Consequently they do not put a value on it. The phrase "cash rich, time poor" can be read or heard frequently in the media and conversations. Is this a reality? How often do we hear the comment, "I don't have enough time!"? The reality is, we have all the time there is!! It is the one universal resource for us all - we have 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute. Making better use of time can make a great difference to our life - improving time management is a start!
The 21st century seems to be a time of even more frenetic working and
living. To what purpose? How many of your colleagues and friends are
constantly rushing around, working long hours, getting more and more
tired, maybe complaining about their situation? Yet, the answer lies with
themselves. What about you? To find out how we can help you or your people to improve use of time
e-mail us.
How many people would you say are "cash rich, time poor"?Why
is this the case in the present day? Theoretically, we work fewer
hours than our ancestors and have more free time available! (Do the
maths, 45hrs per week x 49 weeks, allowing for holidays and Bank
Holidays. Now it is 37 hrs (ha ha!) x 46 weeks or thereabouts.) What
are we doing with it?
We can help you and your people with
their
time management, although we prefer to think of it as personal
organisation or "effective self-management". We believe in encouraging people to value their time.
Think about it in a "basic" formula.
We
have 168 hours in a week. We sleep perhaps 50 hours. Work may take
say 48 hours if we include travel time. This leaves us 70 hours. We
need time for eating, perhaps we rush meals so it is only 7 hours. Then there is bathing etc - another 5 hours in total? That leave us 58
hours in total. What do we do with that time? Are we spending it ways
we enjoy or feel are useful? You may like to look at the "Personal
Time assessment" and think about this.
Our
approach is a bit more than prioritising tasks and making "to do"
lists, although they do come into it! We can help improve personal and
organisational effectiveness. It requires an investment in time and
can be challenging. Traditional
time management training offers some new skills which are logical and sensible. Why don't people stick with using them? It is because we require more than a change in behaviour. We
base the programme on an approach which will bring about a more lasting
change by addressing the inner circles as well as giving ideas for how
to develop the skills and behaviours. Apply this and you can start to practice
time management and get more control over your life.

In addition to
improving time management we can
also help to deal with something which can be a consequence of poor
time use - stress management. We believe in helping people to handle
pressure more positively. We work to help them to identify the causes
and tackle them as well as find ways of handling the symptoms. More
about this can be found at the website of our associate company,
